What is the most important care tip for Jo Rose Jewellery?
To keep copper and silver looking its best, it needs to be polished regularly. A little rub over after each wear is ideal. I use a tarnish-resistant copper wire type. Always take off jewellery when bathing or swimming. Copper can react with skin, creating a harmless green colour, which is natural. I polish my pieces with microcrystalline wax to keep them sparkling for longer.
How should I clean and store my pieces?
Gently polish your jewellery using the cloth provided. For storage, always keep your pieces in the box they came in to protect them from dust, moisture, and potential scratches, which also helps prevent tarnishing.
What should I avoid while wearing my jewellery?
It's best to avoid getting lotions or skincare products directly on your jewellery, as these can accelerate tarnishing or damage gems. Always take off your jewellery when washing, showering, or swimming to protect it from harsh chemicals like chlorine and prolonged moisture.
What should I know about copper jewellery and skin reactions?
A green discolouration on the skin is common and comes from copper reacting with natural salts, acids, and other chemicals on your skin. This creates a patina of copper chlorides, sulfides, sulfates, and carbonates, which is not harmful, but worth considering if you are sensitive to it. For safety and comfort, I only use Sterling silver for all of my ear wires, as it's not recommended to use copper through piercings.
